1. Drive on Left (Key words: Wrong Side, very important)
In Melbourne you need to drive on left if it is a two-way road, especially in some quick-drive and narrow roads (eg. the Great Ocean Road). You may think the road is one-way, or mistakenly drive on the wrong side of the road. We recommend you to drive on the left side of the road if you are new to Melbourne or are not familiar with the road rules in Melbourne, especially when you do not know if the road is a two-way road or not. There has been several casualties because drivers drive on the wrong side of the road.
1. 靠左行驶 （注意：逆行，非常重要）

2. Traffic Lights (Key words: Left turn on red not permitted, very Important)
At a cross road in Melbourne every car has to shop when the traffic light is red. Even if you just want to have a left turn in Melbourne which is different from some countries that permit right/left turn on red. One situation where left turn is permitted is when you see a sign of "Left Turn on Red Permitted" (very rare), but you still need to stop first to see if there is any oncoming traffic before you turn. Another situation is a side way for left turn only, usually will have a "Give Way" sign, you could continue to turn regardless of the traffic light, but you still need to check if there is any incoming traffic.
2. 红绿灯 （注意：红灯不可左转，非常重要）

3. Pedestrian first (Key words: Traffic light and Pedestrian cross line, very important)
At a traffic light crossroad, there will usually be a pedestrian traffic light. When the pedestrian traffic light is green, you need to notice pedestrians crossing the road while you are turning, and let the pedestrians cross over first. The pedestrian crossing in Melbourne is designed for pedestrians to let them cross over before other traffic, so you need to reduce your speed when you drive close to the pedestrian crossing. Sometimes pedestrians will look at their phones or do not notice the surrounding traffic, you need to be very careful while they are crossing.
3. 礼让行人 （注意：红绿灯和横行人道线，非常重要）
在红绿灯路口时，会有行人的红绿灯，当行人绿灯亮起时，您需要在转弯时注意过马路的行人，让行人先行。墨尔本的横行人道线是专门给徒步行走的行人优先道路，所以当您经过有横行人道线的路段时需要减速让行人先行。有时行人会看手机或不注意来车，只顾自己继续行走，所以驾车者需要非常小心。
4. Right side first (Keywords: Roundabout, very important)
Melbourne's traffic is efficient and well-regulated, and this is partially because of the right side first policy from the Roads Corporation of Victoria government. Especially when you are at a Roundabout, you need to notice the traffic from your right side. You need to ensure there is no coming traffic at your right side within safety distance first, and then you could continue driving. In the mean time, the cars at your left side will let you go first.
4. 先让右侧车辆 （注意：转盘，非常重要）
墨尔本的车辆行驶很有规矩和次序，这部分和维州路管局实行的让右侧车辆先行规则很有关系。特别是当您在转盘路口时（没有红绿灯的路口），您需要注意右侧过来的车辆，保证在安全范围之内没有来车时，才可以行驶，同时您左方的车辆会让您先行。
5. Speed limit (Keywords: school time, important)
The speed limit at normal roads outside Melbourne CBD is usually 60 km/h, while at highways, freeways and motorways the speed limit is around 80 to 120 km/h. If you drive on small roads within the residential area, the speed limit is usually around 40 to 50 km/h. You also need to be careful about the school time speed limit, and it is usually 40 km/h. Normally you will see flashing 40 sign to remind you about school time speed limit.
5. 限速（注意，上下学时段，重要）
在墨尔本市区外围的普通道路一般限速为60公里每小时，高速和高架路段为80 - 120 公里每小时，若行驶在住宅区的小路一般为40-50公里每小时，同时驾车时需要注意学校路段上下学时间的限速，一般为40公里每小时，通常会有40闪灯限速标志提示。
